Jorge Alberto Mancini (1960, Buenos Aires, Argentina)
Guitarist, teacher, improviser, and composer
He began taking guitar lessons at the age of seven, studying both popular and classical music. Later, he continued his studies at the Juan Manuel de Falla Municipal Conservatory of Music (1979). At the same time, he deepened his knowledge of the electric guitar in a self-taught manner, influenced by symphonic rock and jazz.
As he listened to and studied contemporary music and free jazz, he began to develop his own style, delving into free improvisation or instant composition. He composed several works for ensembles.
In 1983, he met saxophonist Marcelo Peralta, and together they formed various groups. However, it was with the "Grupo de Improvisación Tercer Mundo", alongside Mariana Potenza (saxophone/voice) and Víctor Da Cunha (drums/percussion), that they performed for several years and recorded the vinyl album Un hilo de luz (a tribute to Pharoah Sanders), released by the Melopea label, directed by Litto Nebbia.

Since 1992, he has pursued a soloist career, which he continues to this day.
He organizes improvisation workshops and series, participates in different improvisation collectives and contemporary music composer groups, and performs plastic-sound duo performances with visual artist Andrea Fasani.
His artistic journey has been guided by freedom, exploration, and creation—creating without a safety net, using extended playing techniques, prepared instruments, sound processing, computers, field recordings, and more.
Mancini defines himself as a "sound imaginator," drawing from the inner self that has discovered various channels of sonic expression, seeking elements to connect the imaginable with the unimaginable.
